Japanese have been cerebrating this spring eve
by throwing beans.
Beans are believed to blow away hardships
over the past year and to bring good luck in
the next year.
The bean-throwing ceremony takes place at
each local shrine, temple or even in home!
At the Spring eve ceremony, people say
'Oni wa soto - Evils out', 'Fuku wa uchi - Luck in'.
