Syukuba festival

tokyo ☀ 31C
19 September, Sunday - Sun day, moon in Aquarius (the 12th day)

Please turn up, and join in on the fun.

= Syukuba Festival =

When? 25th (sat.) to 26th (sun) September
Where? Kitashinagawa
        Keikyu Kitashinagawa station
Or 15 min walk from JR Shinagawa station

Syukuba, literally means 'Inn area'. Many cosy inns, eateries and souvenir
gift shops were lined up along Shinagawa street 200 years ago,
since there was a travellers checkpoint in this bay town.
We love travellers. That's our history.
Why not celebrate and share our history?

Shoe shop - A must for travellers.
passport & coin (300yen/each, $3.49/each)
Whilst we did not have a rickshaw in Edo period,
people feel like traveling back to the 1800's.

The Edo costume parade will be held on 26th (sun).

Like any other festivals in Japan, stalls, flea market and a variety of performances will thrill you 100%. Especially, I recommend the Shinagawa
Bay cruising. (at festival price; 1050yen - $12.23, much cheaper than usual.)

And more, this! --- the fire ritual at Honsenji
It is nothing to do with the Syukuba fest, but Shinagawa folks are looking
forward to taking part in this ritual. We believe the fire will protect us
from troubles and diseases typically occurring in the coming cold seasons.
You can walk barefoot on fire too.  I bet you will.
When? Sunday 26th, Sept. at 1pm
  Where? Minami-Shinagawa 3-5-17,
          near Keikyu Aomono-yokocho station

Come to Shinagawa! Promise? See you there!
